Ravintsara Essential Oil [No. 163] is well known as both a defender against winter maladies and a soothing detoxifier at the end of a bout of flu or cold. Use it in diffusers, baths, chest rubs, and room sprays.

Prima Fleur CO2 Extract: USNEA BARBATA LICHEN

Usnea [Prima Fleur No. 516] is a CO2 from Germany with a very interesting wood and veggie odor that is used in blending and products. It has been used medicinally for at least 1000 years. Usnic acid (C18H16O7), a potent antibiotic and antifungal agent, is found in most species. This, combined with the hairlike structure of the lichen, is why Usnea was historically used to treat surface wounds when sterile gauze and modern antibiotics were unavailable.

High in vitamin C, Usnea is edible. In modern American herbal medicine, it is primarily used for lung and upper respiratory tract infections, and urinary tract infections.

Prima Fleur Essential Oil: EUCALYPTUS

Prima Fleur Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata) Essential Oil [No. 216] is organically grown in Australia. It is an excellent inhalant for respiratory conditions such as cold, flu, sinus infection, bronchitis and bacterial inflammation. It is nice and cooling for hot flashes and used on the skin for acne.

Usage of eucalyptus oil in aromatherapy is increasing gradually as it also blends well with many other essential oils including thyme essential oil, rosemary essential oil, marjoram essential oil, lavender essential oil, cedar wood essential oil, frankincense essential oil, etc.

Prima Fleur Essential Oil: RAVINTSARA

Our Ecocert certified-organic Ravintsara Essential Oil [Prima Fleur No. 163] from Madagascar is steam-distilled from the leaves and branches and has a fresh, balsamic odor somewhat like sweet rosemary. The main components ae oxides like cineole. It is antiviral, and is wonderful in blends to assist the respiratory system, or in massage blends for aches and pains. Ravintsara is uplifting and stimulates mental clarity, helping to improve states of mental fatigue and nervous exhaustion.

Prima Fleur Essential Oil: GRAND FIR

Grown and steam-distilled in France, our Grand Fir (Abies grandis) Organic Essential Oil [Prima Fleur, No. 129] is sweet and evocative. This magnificent giant from the pine family is important in the lumber industry. Not much is written of the essential oil of the needles and twiglets that are steam-distilled for the essential oil called Christmas fir.

This oil has a sweet, spicy, citrus scent that is very balsamic. It is used in potpourri for the holiday season, in fragrant room refreshers, and in cosmetic applications for its perky, healthy scent. It is used by inhalation for the respiratory system for both people and pets, as well as for SAD (seasonal affective disorder). It is antiseptic and soothing for the respiratory tract; sedative and used externally for gout and rheumatism; taken internally for bladder inflammation (with sandalwood); and as a general tonic.

Hemidesmus indicus, organically grown and CO2 extracted in India is used for its antibiotic properties and wonderful effects on skin conditions and to support healthy skin. It has been reported as useful in respiratory disorders, skin diseases, leucoderma, leucorrhoea, and itching. Several studies are being carried toward its activities like analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and helico-bactericidal properties. Further, it also protects against radiation-induced DNA damage on the skin.

Prima Fleur Essential Oil: LEMON MYRTLE

Lemon Myrtle Essential Oil [Prima Fleur No. 370] contains high amounts of citral, up to 95%, and used to treat sinus infections and respiratory problems, and externally for athlete’s foot, acne, itching, and applied to an aching tooth. Use it in healthful blends and soaps for the lovely lemon odor. It is a slightly yellow oil, clear, non-viscous and watery, semi-intense odor (5-6 on a scale of 1-10 ), citrus odor predominating, some herbaceous and mildly woody back notes. Strong aromatic citrus peel taste.

Prima Fleur Essential Oils: ROSEMARY from Morocco

 

When our latest shipment of wild Moroccan Rosemary, cineole variety, arrived, we opened it and at once the air was perfumed with the fresh, purifying, expansive, and perfectly delicious aroma. Distilled from the flowering tops of plants growing wild near Meknes, it is the variety preferred for respiratory blends. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) leaf oil variety 1.8 Cineole [Prima Fleur No. 203] is distilled from plants abundant in sunny North Africa bordering the Mediterranean. The oil is clear in color, with a strong, expansive scent, a characteristic indication of its high percentage of cineole (typically around 40%). It is quite likely the featured oil in a famous old-world remedy, the Four Thieves Vinegar, which was purported to prevent epidemics. Cineole rosemary blends well with many other essential oils and is particularly beneficial used in massage oils for the body. It is used more often for sinus and respiratory symptoms than for skin care. It is said to be anti-depressant, fortifying, and uplifting.
