The first sensation upon application is a dramatic feeling of soothing, cooling relaxation of the eye area. It is provided by its namesake ingredient, Crithmum maritimum, a sturdy variety of sea fennel that thrives in rocky, salt-sprayed regions along the pristine North Atlantic sea cost. Its common name, Samphire, is a variety of the name St. Peter, patron saint of fisherman.

Distilled to an aromatic water, Samphire has the ability to induce the skin's endorphin release from keratinocytes and sensory neurons, and provide a sensation of soothing calmness. Endorphins activate opiate receptors expressed in the limbic or "emotional" brain, which plays an important part in the sensation of pleasure.

Prima Fleur Essential Oil: LEMON PEEL

There are various benefits of lemon peel essential oil as it is an excellent natural astringent, antiseptic, and bactericide which is of particular benefit to people with problem skin and to remove cellulite. The rubefacient and diuretic properties are of great value, as they balance the fluids in the cells and ensure optimum circulation.

Lemon peel further has the ability to stimulate the white corpuscles in the blood that defend the body and fight infection. It is also used to balance the pH of the skin by counteracting acidity on its surface, and acts as a very mild natural bleach or lightener on the skin, which enables it to brighten dull skin color and calm redness, as well as the irritation of an inflamed skin.

Prima Fleur CO2 Extract: FRANKINCENSE

Frankincense Select [Prima Fleur No. 131] is a wild Boswellia carteri from Oman. It is rich and full with a lemon twist in its scent. Frankincense is called for in many ancient and medieval recipes, and is the most commonly found ingredient in incense blends. The liquid oil is used in many blends and in skin care to rejuvenate the skin and combat the effects of aging. Our frankincense is processed by supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction; 10 to 12 kilos of raw material yields one kilo of extract. It can be used as a tonic for all-over body health, and has been known to relive pain associated with arthritis and other inflammatory states.

Frankincense at one time was considered more valuable than gold, revered as holy anointing oil along with myrrh. No two oils are better matched than myrrh and frankincense. They have been described as yin and yang, respectively. In Chinese medicine, myrrh is considered a soft, feminine yin oil, and frankincense, an expansive yang oil. Together they ground and uplift, at once resonating with earth energy and awakening higher consciousness. 
Frankincense was widely used for medicinal purposes to treat skin disease, nervous system imbalances and digestive disruption, and was listed as a medicinal and aromatic plant in the ancient Egyptian record, Ebers Papyrus. Like myrrh, the oil was used in ancient times for embalming, as well as beautifying rituals, including using the charred resin for kohl eyeliner. But frankincense is perhaps best known for its calming and sedative effects on the mind and central nervous system, making it ideal for meditation.

Prima Fleur CO2 Extract & Essential Oil: MELISSA

Our Melissa lemon balm CO2 (Total) from Germany is fresh and very potent! It is useful in many skin products, sleep balms and salves, in solid perfumes, and is also powerfully antiviral. When rubbed on the skin, the crushed leaves of Melissa officinalis are used as a repellent for mosquitos. 

Lemon balm is also used medicinally as an herbal tea, or in extract form. It has antibacterial and antiviral properties (it is effective against herpes simplex), relieves anxiety, and is a mild sedative and calming agent. The leaf tea is effective at reducing stress. A relative of citronella and lemongrass, this herbaceous and floral essential oil [Prima Fleur No. 208] has antifungal and antiviral qualities. With properties that support skin regeneration and regulating sebum production, it helps to keep skin supple and elastic.

In aromatherapy, palmarosa helps calm the mind to clear muddled thinking. It is also uplifting and can be used to counter stress-related problems and nervousness. Cymbopogon martinii var Motia is steam-distilled in Nepal.

Prima Fleur Essential Oil: OWYHEE

Steam-distilled in Oregon, our Owyhee Essential Oil, Artemisia ludoviciana, [Prima Fleur No. 321] is clear, colorless, non-viscous. It is full of esters (over 85%) and the scent is strongly fruity, with herbal and spicy back-notes like Roman chamomile. Since it contains more esters than Roman chamomile it makes a great substitute that is very fragrant and much more economical than that imported product.

Owyhee hydrosol is very floral and fruity in scent and can be substituted for the water in any skin care product where it will be very beneficial for skin care and where you might want a soothing anti-inflammatory. It can be used in the bath for soothing the skin, as a soothing facial spray, or as a fragrant mister on bed linens for scent and sleep.

With its high ester content, the oil has powerful uses for skin care and in custom body care products as a relaxing inhalant or in fragrant blends for perfume, or in massage oils. It helps heals inflamed skin, and in aromatherapy can help calm the mind.
