Prima Fleur Essential Oils: More About ROSEMARY

Most sources interpret the Latin name for rosemary as ros marinus, dew of the sea. Rosemary is indigenous to countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. In its native region, it often grows at low altitude and in proximity to the sea. However, it does not populate the coast, where the spray of sea water might inspire the name. This antiseptic oil is used in the treatment of muscular sprains, arthritis, colic depression, memory loss, migraine, and coughs. It is popular in aromatherapy, where it revives, warms, stimulates, and restores.

Rosemary is both a physical and mental stimulant, and is excellent for refreshing tired muscles, feet, and mind, encouraging concentration. It combats mental fatigue and clears stuffy atmospheres. Its actions are analgesic, anti-depressive, anti-inflammatory, astringent, decongestant, digestive, fungicidal, insecticide, invigorating, relaxant, restorative to the nervous system, and sedative.

A middle note, Rosemary blends well with all citrus oils, Ravintsara, Basil, Cedarwood, Cinnamon, Elemi, Cistus, Lavandin, Lavender, Peppermint, Petitgrain, and Thyme. Rosemary essential oil is one of the ingredients used in the preparation of eau de cologne.

We offer two varieties of Rosemary essential oils: verbenone [Prima Fleur Nos. 114, 345, 508], cineole [No. 203], as well as our California-grown and distilled certified organic Rosemary Hydrosol [Nos. 719 and 729], which are perfect for mid-life phyto-tonics as well as sluggish, congested skin and teen-problematic skin conditions.

Prima Fleur Essential Oil: PLAI

Our Indonesian Plai (Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.) No. 092 is steam distilled in Indonesia. With anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, it has long been regarded by Thai massage therapists as a necessary ingredient in their kits to combat joint and muscle problems. Plai is of the same family as ginger but has different properties  - more cooling than ginger's warming - and more intense actions.

Plai also has anti-histaminic action with its cooling, anti-inflammatory action, with the potential to significantly reduce the severity of asthma attacks in some people.

Prima Fleur Carrier Oil: FORAHA

Prima Fleur Foraha Oil [No. 401] Calophyllum inophyllum is cold-pressed in Madagascar. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory,  and anti-neuralgic properties, having been used in the South Pacific as a traditional remedy for nerve symptoms of leprosy, where the tree is known as Tamanu. The oil is thick and luxurious and absorbs readily into the skin. It is opaque and brownish green with a vegetative, herbal odor.

The botanical name comes from kalos, the Greek word for beautiful, and phullon, which signifies leaf. The oil resulting from this so-named "beautiful leaf" tree was used by women as face cream in Polynesia, but its benefits have been proven as well by contemporary research, according to the book The Healing Trail: Essential Oils of Madagascar. Missionaries to the Fijian Islands in the 1920s discovered that the oil relieved the painful nerve swelling of leprosy. French doctors later confirmed its success as a treatment for cuts, burns, and wounds, all traditional uses in the areas where it is grown. Additional medical research has uncovered potential benefits of compounds in the oil for diseases as serious as cancer and HIV.

To create the oil, fruit is collected after it falls from the trees in December. The nutlike seeds are removed and placed on racks to dry for a month or two, at which point they wrinkle and darken, becoming sticky with oil. At this time they are ready for the cold press extraction. The tree also grows in other parts of Eastern Africa and in India and Southeast Asia.

Prima Fleur Premier Product: ANTI-INFLAMMATORY MUSCLE & JOINT GEL

“My doctor said there was nothing that could be done for the pain in my wrist. Arthritis was present where a fracture had improperly healed many years ago. His only suggestion was to take a popular (and costly) prescription drug. When I mentioned this to someone at Prima Fleur, she suggested I try their anti-inflammatory muscle and joint gel. Frankly, I didn’t expect very much from it. But to my amazement, after just 1 application, my pain virtually disappeared! I threw away the prescription. Now, whenever my wrist hurts, I spread a little joint gel on it. Within minutes, I get relief. Count me as one of your enthusiastic customers.” ~W. Wood, Jacksonville, Florida

In a pure base of Hawaiian seaweeds, water, and willow bark extract, the minerals and essential oils used in this penetrating wrap are specifically targeted to relieve the aches of abused and over-used joints and muscles. Arnica has traditionally been used as an immuno-stimulant and anti-inflammatory as early as the 16th century for the treatment of aches and sprains. Willow bark has natural preservative properties and is rich in natural tannins and salicylic acid.

Produced in the same manner as it was in time-honored shamanistic tradition, the extract is made by an aqueous infusion technique from freshly harvested bark collected in the spring. Reported to have analgesic, antiseptic, astringent, anti-pyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties, it has the added benefit from the tannins and beta-hydroxy acid of providing exfoliation to the skin. The multi-mineral cocktail of zinc, copper, and magnesium supplies the elements necessary for cell vigor and the maintenance of skin functions.  It stimulates cell turnover, restoring vitality.

The particular blend of essential oils in this Joint Gel [Prima Fleur No. 1044] has been carefully chosen for its anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory and purifying properties.  In addition to its fresh clean scent, the ginger, jasmine, and cistus provide a comfortable warming sensation which is soothing and relaxing.

This gel is good for athletes or when feet and legs are heavy tired and swollen from poor circulation which occurs during long airplane flights, prolonged standing or sitting. Also useful as a light moisturizer for arms and legs.  It penetrates quickly yet leaves skin feeling moist and supple without any oil or wax residue.
